Offering the best in chemical peel aesthetic treatments, Lyle Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Center provides patients with multiple options for a customized facial treatment with chemical solutions (such as glycolic, salicylic, lactic, and trichloroacetic acids) that give you healthier, more radiant skin on the face. At our Raleigh, NC office, plastic surgeon Dr. Glenn Lyle offers chemical peel treatments that help to resolve skin flaws including scars, wrinkles, fine lines, uneven patches, hyperpigmentation issues, and more. Chemical peels work by removing dead or damaged skin cells with the application of a customized solution on your skin, which causes the top layer to peel off. As your skin heals and begins to rejuvenate and repair itself, you should notice a clearer, smoother complexion. A chemical peel treatment is a noninvasive way to make your skin bright and is appropriate for the face, neck, and décollatage.
Variations of Chemical Peels
At our Raleigh, NC office, we provide chemical peels in different levels (light, medium, and deep) to fit our patients' skincare needs.
Light peels: You can have a light chemical peel on your lunch break and immediately get back to your day. This strength of peel will remove the top layer of skin (the epidermis), giving your complexion a brighter appearance and softer texture. We typically suggest that you get a light treatment around once a month for the best glowing results.
Medium-depth peels: This strength of chemical peel penetrates deeper into your skin, and you'll usually want to do this level of facial rejuvenation treatment over a long weekend. Prepare yourself for more discomfort during and around an hour after chemical peel. Medium-depth peels are best for patients who have significant damage to their skin such as deeper wrinkles and darker pigmentation issues.
Deep peels: The most advanced of the three types of chemical peels is the deep peel treatment, and it will require the most recovery time. This is an aggressive cosmetic treatment that could leave your face swollen, itchy, and peeling for several weeks. Patients who receive a deep peel usually have dark age spots, sun-damaged skin, significant acne scars, or deep-seated scars. As this strength of peel is typically uncomfortable for most patients, we will provide you with mild anesthesia prior to your procedure.
Ideal Candidates
Getting the opinion of an aesthetic professional is the first step in the journey to healthier skin. Dr. Lyle at Lyle Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Center can assess your skin in a consultation in our Raleigh, NC office before choosing a chemical peel treatment for ideal results. Chemical peel candidates of both genders typically have noticeable problems in their skin like acne scars, rough patches, flaky skin, discoloration, sun spots, fine lines, and much more. We will suggest multiple types of chemical peels to fit your needs.
Procedure Technique
During your procedure at Lyle Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Center, we will have you lying down in a relaxed position before administering your peel. We will make sure your skin is cleansed before applying the customized solution to your treatment areas. We will massage the solution onto your face and let it set for a specific amount of time, which will be discussed in your treatment planning session. Finally, we will wash the solution off your face and apply a neutralizing agent. You are encouraged to bring a light sunscreen or a hat to wear outside after the procedure to protect from environmental exposure.
What to Expect
Depending on the level of the peel you choose, you can expect the face to itch and peel from a few days to a couple weeks. Dr. Lyle or a member of our team will explain methods to care for your skin during your consultation. Please keep in mind that no matter how much your skin itches during post-treatment recovery, it is never helpful to pick the skin off. You could cause scarring to your delicate skin!
Lyle Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics Center Reviews
My case was a little different. Had previous implants that were placed under the muscle as most are. Due to the healing of my body and the fact that I didn’t want a lift, I was left looking disfigured. Saw Dr. Lyle and was scheduled fairly quickly. I was super nervous as the old implants had to be removed and a new put in. This experience was far superior to three years ago mainly due to the exceptional staff. But major kudos to Dr. Lyle for making my new breast look natural and absolutely perfect (my husband is over the moon!). This surgery was not only something that was aesthetic for me. Being newly married, there was a lot of emotional/mental components to it as well. Couldn’t be happier. And Brittany, his nurse, is far superior to the nurses I had before. To top it off, at my post op visit, Stephanie did some Juvaderm in my lips and they look fabulously natural. Highly recommend ALL of the providers!
I am very grateful to Dr Lyle and his staff for amazing results and I highly recommend this practice.
Haley is an incredible provider! She is diligent, detail-oriented, and punctual. She takes the time to get to know her patients and provide them with amazing results. She did my botox before my wedding and made sure it was perfect. I drive 1.5 hours to see her because she's so wonderful. I couldn't recommend her enough!
Dr. Lyle and his staff are the best! Dr. Lyle performed a breast revision that was needed for my breast reconstruction, due to a double mastectomy. After 4 years of breast surgeries, I'm finally able look in the mirror and feel normal! I can't thank Lyle Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics Center enough!
Explant and Breast Lift. Highly recommended. Dr. Lyle, Brittany and Haley are absolutely AMAZING. From the beginning of my consultation to the post op they have all been so kind, helpful, knowledgeable and made me feel so comfortable and at ease. This was a huge decision to have this procedure done and I couldn't be more grateful and thankful for the experience I had with the entire staff. Everyone is always smiles and delightful I couldn't ask for a better group of individuals. Thank you for everything and all you do. You are all the BEST.

Great Skin Starts here

Your newly renewed skin will thank you by looking healthy and caressingly silky. In some cases, a more aggressive, deeper medical grade strength peel may be needed. About TCA Peel
TCA (trichloroacetic acid) is an FDA approved, noninvasive treatment that removes the damaged top layer of the skin. The skin turns over to new skin cells giving way to a brighter, clearer, evenly toned complexion. TCA peels can help address fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, (TCA CROSS) skin discoloration, sun damage and even precancerous lesions. Dr. Glenn Lyle or one of his clinical providers will do a thorough assessment of your skin and determine the appropriate strength peel to most effectively treat your skin conditions and concerns. TCA peels are very cost effective and a great alternative to energy device treatments.
Ideal Candidates
Dr. Glenn Lyle will do a thorough evaluation to determine if you are a candidate for a TCA peel. Patients with visibly damaged skin, without recent sun exposure are generally great candidates. TCA is safe for all skin types, though caution is used on those with olive or brown skin by using a lower percentage of TCA.
What to Expect
TCA peel at Lyle Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics Center is a relatively quick treatment. Your skin will be cleaned and prepped by cleaning off any surface oils or makeup. The TCA is applied to full face or spot treated on areas of concern, avoiding the corners of the mouth, eyes, and nose. Application takes about a minute and it is then neutralized by your provider at the appropriate time of penetration. Your face is then wiped clean. Most patients do experience a brief stingy burning sensation. Having a hand fan will help relieve this discomfort.
