



Meet Dr. Glenn Lyle
Dr. Glenn Lyle is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon who formerly served the Raleigh, NC community at Lyle Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Center since 2002. He is starting his own practice, Lyle Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics Center in May 2023. He will be offering a full line of service including neurotoxins, injectables, rejuvenating facial and skin treatments with a variety of advanced medical devices. His main specialty is breast surgery as well as body contouring to improve his patients' appearances after weight loss, pregnancy, and aging. Dr Lyle also performs the full gamut of cosmetic procedures of the face.
At his practice, he places an emphasis on patient safety to obtain natural results, and offers a comprehensive list of aesthetic services. With more than 28 years of experience in his field, Dr. Lyle is able to provide trusted outcomes and address the needs of the most complex surgical cases with a personal approach.
Skills and specialties
Dr. Lyle enjoys the challenge of providing the best results in cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery for his own patients, and revising the unfavorable outcomes of other surgeons' work. While his main focus is breast enhancement procedures such as augmentations, lifts, reductions, and revisions, he also specializes other surgical and nonsurgical treatments. Dr. Lyle is proud to offer facial procedures including facelifts, necklifts and eyelid surgeries. He also provides noninvasive treatments like FDA-approved injectables, nonsurgical skin tightening, facials, chemical peels, laser treatments, and more.
He maintains his skills by attending plastic surgery seminars and has been among the first in his area to use short scar techniques, fat grafting, and acellular dermal matrix for breast surgeries. Dr. Lyle also performs body contouring after gastric bypass and nonsurgical weight loss, as well as buttocks contouring and liposuction.
Education & Training
In 1982, Dr. Lyle attended Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. At WSU, he met Dr. Martin Robson, a world-renowned plastic surgeon who mentored and guided him to a career in plastic and reconstructive surgery. After graduation in 1986, Dr. Lyle completed a five-year general surgery residency at the University of Massachusetts in Worcester, MA. At UMass, Dr. Lyle continued his training in plastic surgery and was awarded the Mary Ellen Mangano Memorial Award by his peers for contributions to the General Surgery Residency Program. He achieved his board certification in general surgery in 1992 while pursuing his education in plastic surgery. He then completed a three-year plastic surgery residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, working under Dr. Robson's guidance.
After eight years of post-graduate surgical training, he pursued an academic plastic surgery career by joining the faculty of the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA. He attained the rank of Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery where he had the responsibility of educating and training future plastic surgeons before deciding to go into private practice.
Societies & Affiliations
Dr. Lyle is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and was re-certified in 2006 and again in 2016. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons, the North Carolina Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, as well as the Wake County Medical Society and North Carolina Medical Society. He is the former president of the NC Society of Plastic Surgeons and the former Chairman of Surgery at REX Hospital. Dr. Lyle has also been active in committee leadership for the ASPS as a member of the Device and Technology Assessment Committee and Research Grants Committee of the parent national organization.
Professional Achievements
In addition to the superb care of his patients, Dr. Lyle has contributed to the field of plastic surgery through his committee work as well as presenting research at national meetings. He has spoken at the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Plastic Surgery Research Council, Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons meetings, North Carolina Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons meetings, as well as many invited lectureships at nursing, breast, and trauma symposiums. He has published over 20 journal articles and book chapters on subjects such as burn reconstruction, wound healing, antibiotic usage, growth hormone and weight loss agents, lower extremity reconstruction, hand surgery, reconstructive microsurgery, breast reconstruction, breast reduction, and breast augmentation.
Personal Life
Dr. Lyle was member of the U.S. Army Reserves Medical Corps since 1989, obtaining the rank of colonel in 2003. He was called to active duty and served as chief of plastic surgery at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, GA. While in Georgia, he replaced the active duty plastic surgeons who were deployed to the Middle East during the Iraq conflict. Even though he has completed his service, he continues to honor the service of active duty soldiers and their spouses of all branches of the military by offering a discount on his professional fees.
Dr. Lyle has been married to his wife, Liz, since 1990 and has three children ranging from to college age to graduate. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, cooking, and is an ACC sports fan!
