Ideal Candidates
Individuals considering neck lift surgery generally deal with visibly sagging skin on the neck. Hanging neck skin is often caused by a range of factors including aging and significant weight loss. Facelifts generally incorporate a necklift procedure, however an isolated neck only deals with a neck though a small incision in front of the earlobe may be necessary. Regardless of the reason, loose neck skin produces an older and unbecoming look, which in most cases can only be cosmetically fixed with skin removal, treatment of underlying loose muscle and sometimes salivary and tightening. If you are physically healthy and at a good weight but you feel embarrassed by lines, wrinkles, and loose skin on the neck, a neck lift cosmetic surgery may be a recommended option.
Surgical Technique
Neck lift surgery is usually done with sedation or general anesthesia . An incision is placed just in front or behind your ears and into the posterior hairline and another one might also be created beneath your chin. If pockets of fat exist, liposuction may be the first step in the surgical process or direct removal. Following that, any sagging, loose, or hanging skin will be carefully excised and the remaining skin will be pulled tight. This method of skin tightening is performed until the desired contour has been attained. Even though your incisions are sutured closed, scarring should be minimally noticeable since they are placed under your chin. An injection such as Kybella may also be used to enhance the results. Other additional nonsurgical options can help the skin's texture and surface, such as laser, peel, or IPL treatment, to create a glowing appearance.
What to Expect
After a neck lift, there will probably be some mild swelling and discoloration from bruising, but these will dissipate in a few days. You should rest and try to avoid exercise or strenuous movements and activities for a couple of weeks to assist in a safe recovery. Supportive bandages or a "chin strap" may be recommended and are often used at night for a few weeks.During this time, loose clothing should be worn. You should see visible aesthetic differences almost immediately. In fact, it has been noted that the neck lift surgery can make one of the most stunning enhancements to your profile, turning back the hands of time on your appearance.

My case was a little different. Had previous implants that were placed under the muscle as most are. Due to the healing of my body and the fact that I didn’t want a lift, I was left looking disfigured. Saw Dr. Lyle and was scheduled fairly quickly.
