There are many options to improve the appearance of the neck. Minimally invasive procedures such as the My Ellevate procedure, liposuction or device driven procedures such as Radiofrequency microneedling and Sofwave- are some of the options.
Patients with significant loose skin generally are better served with surgical options such as neck lift or facelift which involves significant skin removal and muscle manipulation and tightening.
Men tend to be less enthusiastic about major surgical interventions- Particularly facelifts. Although these procedures can be done very effectively, the resulting scars are not generally hidden as well as in female patients.
The turkey gobbler type neck with loose skin present tends to bother gentleman as they age- particularly older individuals. One nice option is a direct neck lift which involves directly removing skin and subcutaneous fat and even repairing muscle through a direct incision in the midline of the neck. This is rarely chosen for women as the scar is very noticeable especially with the thin of skin women. Men have whiskers and their skin tends to heal well and scars can be hidden better.
Direct neck lifts can be done under local anesthesia with minimal down time. It involves a small Z plasty manipulation of the midline of the incision to prevent a bandlike effect.
This patient was very pleased with the immediate improvement and minimal down time. The cost Is much less than a formal open neck lift.
