This is a 39-year-old man who was quite fit but had some service-related injuries which precluded his ability to do a full fitness routine. He was able to lift weights but was restricted in some other activities and he felt that this left him with some fatty areas that he was unable to improve with diet and exercise. He had a previous gynecomastia procedure elsewhere but never felt that his breasts were reduced enough. He was looking for improvements in his abdomen and flanks and chest. Dr. Lyle performed Vaser liposuction which helps to emulsify fat to a better degree than standard liposuction. The Vaser uses ultrasonic energy to shatter fat and then power assisted liposuction also known as PAL, performs the fatty extraction. He had this performed on his chest. The Vaser device is particularly effective for the male chest as it shatters the fat that is trapped within the glandular tissue and also helps to remove some of the glandular tissue which is very difficult to remove with a regular liposuction. He wore compression garments for 8 weeks postoperatively and was able to resume exercise within 2 weeks after surgery and full workouts after 4 weeks. He noted nice improvements in his abdomen and chest and flank areas and felt this procedure improved his physique. He is now motivated to do a bit more exercise and maintain his result.
