Genius™ Radiofrequency Microneedling Helps Improve Fine Line Wrinkles, Raleigh*

Vertical lip lines which are often called " lipstick lines" or "smoker lines" are wrinkles that involve the area around the mouth usually in the upper lip but also the lower lip. This is typically the result of collagen and elastin loss with aging. Repetitive use of the orbicularis oris which is the muscle around the mouth -with activities such as smoking or sipping through a straw can sometimes accentuate these lines. Although neurotoxins in very small doses may help to diminish these lines, most patients require some form of treatment that induces new collagen and elastin to develop. Usually this is in the form of laser treatments, chemical peels and micro-needling. Micro-needling involves making very small nearly microscopic injuries into the dermis of the skin which heals itself with new collagen. Radiofrequency microneedling uses specialized insulated needles which penetrate the appropriate level of the skin and delivers a controlled amount of heat which stimulates collagen.
