This 36 year old woman had saline implants placed by another surgeon about 7 years before coming to Dr. Lyle for help. Her implants were easily palpable- despite being under the muscle and were sliding down her chest wall. This is a condition known as "bottoming out" which can happen when the weight of the implant overcomes the strength of the tissue holding them in place. Dr. Lyle corrected her problems by placement of silicone gel implants in the same pocket and elevating her inframammary folds with a capsulorrhaphy which is essentially an "internal seam" created to elevate the fold and lift the implant position. Because she had thin tissue, Dr. Lyle reinforced the repair with an absorbable mesh called Galaflex. After a year the mesh will absorb having strengthened the repair. The result is a major improvement in breast appearance with a softer, less palpable implant. This patient was very pleased with the improvements made. When considering implant revision, make sure you choose an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon. Dr. Lyle has over 29 years of experience including a long history of performing reconstructive breast surgery which makes him well-qualified to take on challenging cases.
