This is a 58-year-old woman who did not like the down turned position of her nipples and the size of her breasts. She desired a more shapely breast with lifted nipple position and also a reduction. She did have neck and upper back pain and was wearing a triple D cup and wanted to get to a smaller size with a better shape. She underwent breast reduction with removal of 400 g of breast tissue per side. Her newly shaped and lifted breasts were quite pleasing to her and neck and back pain significantly improved. Many patients wonder if a breast reduction also lifts the breasts and the answer is "Yes"! Breast reduction and breast lifting are very similar in terms of their incisional design The main difference is breast lifting does not usually involves significant reduction in breast volume or removal of much breast tissue. The distinction can be minor and in most cases skin reduction alone without removal of excess tissue will provide a nice shape to the new breast. Smaller reductions are often considered as part of a mastopexy.
