Sagging breasts also known as ptotic breasts can occur at any age. While it is most common after pregnancy and the aging process it can even be present in young women who develop their breasts rapidly during teenage or even pubescent years. It can be the result of weight changes, hormonal changes or just hereditary factors. This 24-year-old woman noticed breast sagging even in her early teen years despite having a fairly normal weight throughout her early adulthood. She wore a size 32 D cup bra and wanted to be somewhat smaller and lifted. She underwent bilateral mastopexy or breast lift with removal of just over 100 g of breast tissue per side. The procedure is relatively straightforward and takes a month or so to recover from. Most patients can resume exercise in a light fashion at 3-4 weeks and return to a gym in 6 weeks or so. Scarring takes at least 3-4 months to start settling down and can be improved upon with prolonged taping, silicone products and scar creams. This patient was very pleased with her smaller lifted-appearing breasts and allowed her to wear clothing that she never felt she could wear before.
