What is the difference between a Breast Lift and Breast Reduction?

This 40 year old woman felt her breastswere too big and too droopy. She wore a 34 DD and wanted to maintain volume but go down in size slightly but have "perkier" breasts. She underwent a vertical breast lift which is also known as a short scar or "lollipop" lift". Approximately 150 grams ( 1/3 lb) was removed per side. After surgery she maintained a D cup but her breasts looked fuller and smaller. A breast lift or mastopexy is very similar in design to a breast reduction but generally involves less tissue removal. Many times only skin excess is removed but it can also involve some breast tissue as well. Both involve improvement in shape, elevation in nipple position and reduction in size - although the reduction involves a much greater degree of removal.
