This is a 24-year-old woman who desired increase of her very small breast size from an A cup to a full C cup. She had a preoperative consultation with Dr. Lyle and after full discussion of options chose submuscular silicone gel breast implants. It was pointed out that she had minor asymmetry with the right nipple slightly higher than the left. This was such a small difference that it was not felt that any mastopexy would be Beneficial. Placement of differential size breast implants was also not indicated as she had very little difference in breast volume. She was very happy with her new full C cup breasts after undergoing placement of 385 cc smooth-walled high profile silicone gel breast implants. Inframammary fold incision was used and a Keller funnel was utilized to introduce the device. Minor breast asymmetries are very common in women who request breast augmentation. Unless it is significant, most women chooseNOT to have corrective surgery for this such as mastopexy as it results in more scars. It should be noted however that minor asymmetries can become more noticeable once the breast is enlarged. This patient had some asymmetry a bit more noticeable after breast augmentation. It was not a major concern of hers. Most women do not even notice these asymmetries and it is important to point them out by inspecting preoperative photos and doing a thorough preoperative examination.
