Baby Boomers are those patients who are performed between 1946 and 1964. By 2022, this population is considered middle-aged or even "old". Many women ask if they are too old to have breast augmentation or breast lifting. The answer is No! -As long as your health is good and you are reasonable surgical candidate there is no strict age limitation . You must however, consider the consequences how having an implant-which may require reoperation in later years .This may impact your health . Many women after age 50 are hopeful to have breast lift without augmentation to avoid an implant. If your volume is sufficient, this is certainly possible but upper pole fullness may be lacking. Use of resorbable surgical mesh can help to keep the breast tissue higher on the chest for longer period. Small implants are usually recommended rather than large. This is a 66-year-old woman who desired more fullness and somewhat perkier breasts. She really did not want to be much larger but realized that an implant would be necessary. She underwent augmentation mastopexy with a small submuscular silicone gel implant of about 210 cc. This was just enough to provide the upper pole fullness she was looking for without being too much larger. Some tissue is removed during mastopexy but it is mostly extra skin and subcutaneous fat She was very happy with her outcome and now is able to wear certain styles of clothing that accentuated her figure.

Dr. Lyle completed his medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine, followed by a general surgery residency at the University of Massachusetts and a plastic surgery residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch.
