This 45-year-old mother of 4 children noted excess skin and fat and laxity of her abdomen. She initially was hopeful to have 360° liposuction to address all of her concerns however she had a fair amount of skin laxity and also diastasis rectus after multiple pregnancies so she was advised to have abdominoplasty with liposuction. The patient had 360° liposuction with performance of liposuction of the back and flanks and abdomen with abdominoplasty. The excess skin was removed which would not have been removed with liposuction alone. She also had the diastases repair to flatten her abdomen and this would not have occurred with liposuction alone. She recovered nicely from her procedure and 3 months postop is back to working out at home. Liposuction can be added to abdominoplasty provided safety is kept in mind. Healing of the abdominal incision requires proper blood flow to the wound repair as overly aggressive liposuction could potentially cause difficulties with wound healing . Flipped as this mean? Wounds can separate or develop tissue necrosis and scabbing and scars if blood flow Is in adequate or excess tension This placed on the repair. Careful patient selection and technique are paramount to providing good results with good healing.
