This 48-year-old woman was never happy with the appearance of her hips and thighs. She felt it gave her a "pear shaped" appearance. She was not happy with how she looked in a bathing suit or tight fitting clothing. She underwent Vaser assisted liposuction of the thighs including trochanteric area (also known as saddle bags) as well as areas of the hip ,anterior and inner thigh. A total of about 900 cc of fat was removed from each side. The patient wore compression garments religiously for about 3 months and the results were apparent at this time. She was very pleased with the improvement. Liposuction of the thighs can be quite challenging. A smooth the result can be difficult to obtain because of the differences in skin tone and elasticity. The Vaser device may allow for better emulsification and some skin shrinkage. Contour irregularities can occur. Over resection can result in skin laxity especially in the inner thigh. Recovery from liposuction is usually fairly rapid as the incisions are all small and other than being somewhat sore, restricted activity is limited and return to normal everyday activities and exercise can be resumed within a few weeks.
