Liposuction

Liposuction is an excellent way to reduce stubborn fat deposits in the abdomen, flanks and thighs and back. Generally it is performed on younger woman as the aging process leads to loose skin and outcomes of liposuction are not quite as predictable. Loose skin can cause surface irregularities with liposuction. The best candidates have very good skin tone. Different techniques to address looser skin such as SAFE Liposuction which involves a specific technique with standard or power assisted liposuction or use of ultrasonic devices such as Vaser are necessary to avoid irregularities and increased laxity of skin. Renuvion is a radiofrequency device that is also effective in helping tighten skin during liposuction. This 53-year-old woman had reasonable skin tone but did have laxity and wished to have improvements with liposuction. She underwent Vaser assisted liposuction which does help to cause the skin to contract somewhat. Avoidance of overly aggressive liposuction is necessary in some of these cases to avoid worsening skin laxity. In her case she had what is described as mid-definition liposuction which helps define some muscular anatomy to have more natural soft contours. High definition liposuction involves aggressive fat removal which really highlights muscle anatomy . Compression garments are necessary and lymphatic massage may be beneficial as well. She had nice improvements in the areas she was most concerned about including abdomen ,flanks and back.

Dr. Lyle completed his medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine, followed by a general surgery residency at the University of Massachusetts and a plastic surgery residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch.
