Post-bariatric skin excess and redundant fatty tissue typically affects the abdomen, thighs, breasts and face as well as the arms. Most patients prioritize the abdomen but typically have at least 4 or 5 areas of concern. In some cases, combinations of different anatomical locations can be performed in 1 setting but in many cases, they need to be staged. This patient underwent circumferential abdominoplasty and breast lifting and now desired improvement in the excess skin of her arms. She had bariatric surgery several years prior losing over 110 pounds and had a typical "batwing" deformity . In her case, it was primarily skin excess. She underwent bilateral brachioplasty with a posterior lateral approach. She had significant improvement in contour. Because of her loose skin, her scars healed very nicely and although they can never be totally hidden in sleeveless shirts- they were inconspicuously located. Recovery from brachioplasty Is generally quite easy with minimal pain and resumption to most activities within a few weeks. Compression sleeves are recommended to reduce swelling.
