Our Location

Many patients ,especially those who have lost weight or simply have lax skin , seek improvements in skin and fatty excess of the upper arms. The flapping loose excess skin is also known as " batwing" deformity . There are some more minimally invasive procedures such as radiofrequency tightening with Renuvion, Bodytite, Micro-needling and sometimes just liposuction but in many cases such as this, excisional surgery -arm lift or brachioplasty is more effective. This 69-year-old woman had lost weight as she aged, she did not like the appearance of her loose upper arms. She underwent brachioplasty which is a fairly simple procedure involving an upper arm length incision from the axillary area down to the elbow. It is typically positioned just on the inside and posterior part of the arm so it is less noticeable. Unfortunately there is no location of incision that would be totally hidden with sleeveless attire. The recovery of this procedure is fairly easy and generally only light compression sleeves are necessary and typically no drainage tubes. Resumption of activity is usually within 1 week but maintenance of tapes or silicone strips on the incisions and compression are necessary to achieve the best outcome. This patient was very pleased with the improvements. Although her scar was fairly visible at 3 months-It is expected to fade considerably by 6 months.
