Brachioplasty improves excess Arm flab

This 69 year old woman has always hated her flabby arms. Despite maintaining a reasonable weight, she felt they were too loose. No amount of arm exercises seemed to help. She wondered if she was too old for cosmetic surgery. She was in good health and was felt to be a good candidate for elective surgery. She understood that liposuction alone would result in looser skin so she accepted that scars would result. She had a brachioplasty performed and was quite pleased with the outcome. Scars on brachioplasty incisions take up to a year to fade and never totally go away. Prolonged use of paper taping, silicone based creams and silicone strips help but ultimately these scars need time to soften. Her scars in these photos are still "immature" which means they still need time to soften and fade. Our own healing mechanisms actually lead to prominent appearing scars early in wound repair and scar therapies are designed to manipulate this process.
