This 35-year-old woman lost 170 pounds after undergoing duodenal switch procedure. After this bariatric procedure, her weight went from 316 pounds down to 146 pounds. She had significant deformities with excess skin involving her abdomen back, buttock, breasts ,arms and thighs. She underwent a preliminary procedure which was a circumferential abdominoplasty or body lift done with a Fleur-de-lis technique which involves removal of central abdominal skin resulting in a midline vertical scar. She did very well with the procedure and had marked improvements in her appearance of her abdomen and flanks and buttock with removal of excess skin and fatty tissue from her lower abdomen and back. She was so happy with the procedure she ultimately underwent brachioplasty, mastopexy and thigh lifting which were done during a second procedure approximately 3 months later Patients with this degree of weight loss after bariatric surgery usually have multiple areas of concern. Generally it is recommended to stage them and address the areas of most concern first. This usually is the abdomen although some patients prioritize other areas of their body. Most patients benefit from breast procedures, arm lifting and thigh lifting. Many of these procedures can be combined but generally are split into 2 or 3 separate procedures.
