Breast Lift After Weight Loss / Mastopexy with Mesh Before and After Images
Concern
This 45-year-old woman had recently lost about 50 pounds and noticed significant drooping of her breasts. She was a D cup and hopeful to go down a small amount but was mostly concerned about the shape of her breasts and the sagging.
Surgery
She underwent bilateral mastopexy ( also known as breast lift) and had placement of an absorbable mesh-called Galaflex. This is also known as an internal bra. Galaflex and other absorbable meshes are made out of similar material as surgical sutures and hold the tissue in place during healing but eventually go away after your own new collagen forms to allow a more long-lasting result. It is especially helpful for patients with weight loss and loose skin and tissue that has lost elasticity. Dr. Lyle uses it in many of his breast surgeries.
