Can you have Body Contouring after age 70? Raleigh, NC
If you have undergone a weight loss journey or just developed unacceptable sagging loose skin and excess fat deposits with aging and are over 65 even over 70-I bet you wonder if you are too old for plastic surgery and body contouring. The answer is often no! You are not too old. Certainly, if you have underlying health conditions that preclude a safe anesthetic you might not be suitable. Things like heart disease, severe diabetes, pulmonary disease or active cancer or history of stroke, you might NOT be an acceptable candidate. Dr. Lyle likes to review each case individually to determine her suitability. Often clearance from your medical doctor is necessary and some preliminary testing like EKG and blood work might be necessary. When patients have some risks that are not absolute, he sometimes does cosmetic procedures in the hospital setting for the added resources that might be necessary. But more frequently, with proper precautions, these procedures can be done in an outpatient surgical facility. This 77-year-old woman had lost weight after years of being overweight. She had an abdominoplasty performed at a national chain and was not happy with the result- but Dr. Lyle did some corrections and also did an arm lift and breast lift- all as an outpatient. She was otherwise quite healthy and now living at the beach and enjoyed sunbathing but was embarrassed by her appearance. Now she is much more comfortable with in her bathing suits and enjoying retirement.
Dr. Lyle offers various body contouring procedures for patients who have experienced significant weight loss. These procedures remove excess skin and improve body shape for a more toned and defined appearance.
