What is a Fleur De Lis abdominoplasty? It is a type of tummy tuck where excess tissue in the middle and upper abdomen is removed in addition to the pannus. It is a more extensive procedure and usually reserved for patients with major weight loss and lots of loose skin . Most patients would prefer NOT to have an incision down the middle, but if the excess skin and fat cannot be properly contoured with the horizontal incision that all tummy tucks utilize- it may be the best way of addressing this area. Patients frequently wonder why you can’t just liposuction this excess fat in the upper abdomen. In some cases- you can but it may lead to excess loose skin This 44 year old woman had a previous bariatric procedure which helped get her weight down to below 300 pounds. But she only lost about 60 lbs , which for her starting weight- was considered only a partial success. She had a hard time exercising because of all her excess abdominal skin and fat and had discussed body contouring with Dr. Lyle many times. He insisted that she make better attempts at weight loss. She did this with GLP-1. Her thighs were massive and a future thigh lift would help her. Dr. Lyle made an exception to his BMI criteria and performed a brachioplasty and Fleur de Lis abdominoplasty at Rex hospital- since her weight was prohibitive for in office surgery. She was very pleased with her outcome and now plans an extended breast reduction which will help with large breast size, shape and excess bra rolls.

Dr. Lyle completed his medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine, followed by a general surgery residency at the University of Massachusetts and a plastic surgery residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch.
He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of both the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and The Aesthetic Society (Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons society).
