One of the most common concerns women seeking a mommy makeover have, is their appearance in bathing suits as so many patients have summer beach or lake homes or have a pool at home and are very self-conscious of the appearance of their breasts and abdomen. Women having previous C-sections frequently have a shelf like protrusion in their lower abdomen and have to hide it with one piece bathing suits. In many cases, a mommy makeover can allow patient to consider wearing a 2-piece bathing suit. Generally, it takes about 3 months before patients feel comfortable wearing bathing suits after this procedure. The umbilicus usually takes the longest to look natural. This 55-year-old woman spent a lot of time at the beach during the summer and fall and never wore a two-piece bathing suit until she had a mommy makeover by Dr. Lyle. Within 3 months she was wearing a two-piece and was enjoying the summer months. The incisions from the tummy tuck may be visible in very slinky bathing suit bottoms but most properly placed incisions are not visible in somewhat wider suits.

Dr. Glenn Lyle is a board-certified plastic surgeon serving the Raleigh, NC community at Lyle Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Center since 2002. With over 30 years of experience, he specializes in breast surgery and body contouring, to enhance patients' appearance after weight loss, pregnancy, and the effects of aging.

Dr. Lyle completed his medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine, followed by a general surgery residency at the University of Massachusetts and a plastic surgery residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch.
