Mommy Makeover in a Massive Weight Loss Patient Images
Concern
A Mommy Makeover refers to cosmetic surgery to address issues that developed after pregnancies such as loose and excess abdominal tissue and stasis rectus as well as breast drooping or loss of volume or in some cases breast enlargement. Patients who have undergone massive weight loss after bariatric surgery or GLP-1 medications were just plain old diet and exercise, can also undergo the same operations. Many women who have undergone major weight loss are also mother’s and have had post-pregnancy changes to the body that are now even magnified when they have weight loss.
This 57-year-old woman had undergone a bariatric procedure about 10 years ago and has lost over 100 pounds. At one time she weighed 250 pounds. She has some weight fluctuations and recently began a GLP-1 medication to get her weight back down to close to her goal weight. When she presented to Dr. Lyle her body mass index was 26 but she had sagging breasts and loose abdominal tissue which extended into the back.
Surgery
The patient underwent an extended abdominoplasty which started in the back to remove some excess flank skin as well as a full mastopexy without implants. She also had an umbilical hernia repair.
Result
The patient recovered well and was able to return to her workplace in about 4 weeks. She is very happy with her result and is looking forward to undergoing a thigh lift in the future.
