Stretchmarks, Umbilical Hernia, and Diastasis Fixed with Tummy Tuck Surgery Before & After
Concern
This 49-year-old mother of 4 children had a prior hysterectomy. She had severe stretch marks (abdominal striae), significant diastasis recti, as well as an umbilical hernia. She hated her abdominal appearance. She did have loose skin on her abdomen, but not really a large amount. It looked worse because of her tethered hysterectomy scar.
Surgery
After careful evaluation, Dr. Lyle performed an abdominoplasty with simultaneous umbilical hernia repair without mesh as well as diastasis repair. Most of her stretch marks in her lower abdomen were removed. She did not have quite enough skin excess to remove all of the lower abdominal skin, which included her umbilical opening, so a small vertical scar above the pubis was necessary. However, this looked much better than the stretch marks.
Results
Her abdomen is now nice and flat. The hernia is gone, and stretch marks are almost all eliminated.
