Tummy Tuck after 50 years old in Raleigh, North Carolina
Is there an age limit on when a tummy tuck can be performed? The answer as a qualified no-although there are some limitations, It would be very unusual for someone after age 80 to undergo to undergo abdominoplasty. The majority of women have abdominoplasty between the ages of 30 and 50 as they have completed their childbearing years and are anxious to improve their appearance after suffering from stretch marks, diastases rectus and excess fat deposits. However, these same concerns can occur in women over 50. As long as they are in good health and are medically cleared for surgery, excellent results with Tummy Tuck can be achieved. Certainly, patients with underlying health problems like diabetes, heart disease, excess obesity and other conditions may be disqualified. But the benefits of abdominoplasty in older women can be achieved safely in most cases. Some risk factors increase with age such as blood clots developing but generally wound healing and other issues are not a major concern in otherwise healthy patients. This 62-year-old woman had always hated her lower abdominal appearance and finally decided to do something. She had a breast reduction in the past by Dr. Lyle and was very happy with the results, so she sought his help in having abdominoplasty. She has lost weight through diet and weight loss medications and managed to get her weight down from 190 lbs to 165 lbs.
