About a Buttock Lift (Gluteal lift)
A Brazilian Butt Lift improves projection of the buttock and reshapes the buttock through fat grafting. The lifting effect is purely via volume addition to the buttocks. In patients with sagging tissues (AKA buttock ptosis), fat transfer alone may not be effective. You may need a buttock lift.
A formal buttock lift (also called gluteal lift) involves surgical excisional of loose skin of the upper buttock/ lower back with resulting elevation of the buttock skin. This is often included as part of a circumferential abdominoplasty, but it can also be done by itself to improve buttock appearance.
In many cases, adding additional fat can help the result. In some cases, a technique called auto-augmentation utilizes excess skin and fat from the upper buttock to augment the lower buttock.
Concern
This 56-year-old woman had a previous abdominoplasty at another facility, but had complications where her lower abdominal wound was left open and took months to heal. She was not happy with that experience, so she sought Dr. Lyle’s assistance in improving her buttock shape and also improving her medial thigh, where she had over-resection of liposuction. She also had sagging of the buttock tissues.
Surgery
Dr. Lyle performed a formal buttock lift as well as fat transfer and liposuction of the back and flank. Even added just 240 cc per side. He also did a medial thigh lift
Result
She had a very nice improvement with the lifting effect as well as the fat transfer. The thigh lift improved the appearance of her upper thigh.
