About Gynecomastia Reduction
Gynecomastia is often treated with a hybrid approach where aggressive liposuction is done to the fatty component. The Vaser device is very helpful to reduce this tough fibrous tissue, but the glandular tissue does not come out very well by liposuction alone and often needs to be removed directly. This can usually be done with smaller incisions around the nipple and sometimes with a technique known as the avulsion technique, where the remaining breast tissue is manually removed through a very small incision, basically tearing it away from the surrounding tissue after it is loosened up with liposuction. It generally takes several months for swelling to go down, and during that timeframe, restriction of chest exercises is necessary, as well as compression garments to help reduce swelling. Patients are encouraged to increase the development of the pectoral muscle to get the best outcome.
Concern

He had a combination of excess fat and breast tissue, so a combination technique with liposuction and direct excision was used.
