Male Breast reduction for Prominent nipples In Raleigh, NC
This 36 year old man has always been bothered by his puffy nipples. He developed male breast enlargement as a teenager and they never subsided. He was very fit and liked to work out but was self conscious in his appearance in work out clothes as his nipple protruded from underneath his garments. He also never took his shirt off at the beach or pool.
He had firm glandular tissue underneath both areola in an otherwise normal appearing chest. Benigh gynecomastia was diagnosed.
Options included liposuction and direct excision. With very dense glandular tissue- liposuction is often ineffective so a direct excision via a periareolar incision was carried out. Although it sounds very simple- this can be a difficult procedure as overresection can lead to a depression deformity and underresection will leave the patient still feeling enlarged.
The patient wanted his nipples as flat as possible which was achieved. He now feels much more confident while working out and no longer has protruding nipples.
