This 40-year-old woman lost 90 pounds over 2 years by going to Weightwatchers and starting an exercise program. Her breasts essentially “deflated” and became quite droopy. During consultation, expressed an interest in getting “perkier”. She wanted to keep a moderate cup size but no implant. A Wise pattern mastopexy was performed. After surgery, she was able to wear normal dresses and tighter fitting clothing. She was extremely pleased with her new appearance. One of the most common requests of patients with major weight loss is breast lifting. A mastopexy repositions breast tissue, elevates the nipple to the center of the breast and reduces the breast diameter resulting in better shape. The inverted T or anchor pattern is the most common technique utilized by plastic surgeons especially with patients with a major amount of excess skin. Reduced scar techniques such as lollipop lift or vertical lift are not as commonly utilized in this population because the excess loose skin cannot be removed efficiently.
Dr. Lyle offers Breast Lift (Mastopexy) surgery to restore youthful perkiness to sagging breasts. This procedure can be performed alone or combined with breast implants or fat transfer to enhance volume and shape.
