Description

Should I have My Breast Implants Removed?

Top Reasons Patients Get Breast Implants Removed

-have developed a problem- capsular contracture or deflation/ rupture

-too big- many patients have gained weight after pregnancy and aging and feel they are too big with implants.

-uncomfortable- sometimes, implants can cause discomfort – especially with active women who work out, lift weights, do Pilates or yoga.

-concerns about health- many women worry about the need to replace implants over time. Choosing to remove implants later in life is frequently done because women don’t want to have to do it when they are older and possibly less healthy.

Case Study

This 42 – year-old woman had breast augmentation done by another surgeon 8 years ago. She never liked her result – feeling too big and suspecting that she probably needed a breast lift. In fact, many surgeons will place large implants to elevate the nipple positions without doing a lift. While this may be effective- over time the breast can become misshaped. She chose to have implant removal and lift.

She had extra high-profile implants which often leads to a globular appearing breast. Dr. Lyle performed implant removal and lift. Fat graft was added to help with some asymmetry and some shape improvement. Despite removing Allergan SRX 400 cc implants- her lift and fat transfer resulted in a nice full, better shaped breast.
