Is a brachioplasty?. Brachioplasty refers to an arm lift which is a surgical removal of excess skin in the upper arm that removes skin and excess in the lower posterior component where patient’s complaint of flat the arms. Sometimes this is called a batwing deformity. Patients hate it!. Although liposuction may be effective for patients with good skin tone and sometimes mild cases can be treated with Coolsculpting- major issues usually require surgical removal.
This 59-year-old woman had undergone significant weight loss and had typical loose fatty upper arms. She sought Dr. Lyle’s health as he had previously done some other surgical procedures on her.
Surgery
The patient underwent a standard brachioplasty or arm lift. Her recovery was uneventful, wearing Ace wraps on her arms for a week followed up with compression sleeves for 3 months. Her incision was managed with prolonged taping. This helps to reduce scarring which also is helped with scar creams.
Result
