Major Transformation with Mommy Makeover and Secondary Liposuction, Raleigh, NC
In many cases, a major transformation in body contour takes several procedures. Patients with major weight loss from lifestyle changes or bariatric surgery usually have many areas they wish to have addressed with body contouring surgery. Staged procedures are usually recommended. Secondary liposuction is a useful technique for patients with major excisional procedures but still have fatty excess that could not be addressed during the original procedure. There are limits, for safety reasons, to the amount of liposuction performed during abdominoplasty. In Florida for example, state guidelines restrict the amount of liposuction during abdominoplasty to 1 L . This 39-year-old woman had been using semaglutide medication for weight loss with some success. She was able to lose about 50 pounds but was having difficulty making much change in her shape. She consulted with Dr. Lyle who recommended continued efforts at weight loss and was able to get her body mass index down to about 33. She did not have other major health problems other than a history of ileostomy (temporary bypass of her intestine with a surgical formation of an ostomy) owing to Crohn’s disease. She underwent an initial breast reduction and abdominoplasty with liposuction as an outpatient. She was very happy with the improvements but still had a significant amount of lipodystrophy and about One year later she had another operation where she had almost 3 L of additional fat removed by liposuction.
Dr. Lyle offers various body contouring procedures for patients who have experienced significant weight loss. These procedures remove excess skin and improve body shape for a more toned and defined appearance.
