This 44-year-old woman had prior C sections and desired improvement in her abdominal appearance. She also wanted some improvements in her buttock shape. Fat transfer to the buttock is often done as a stand- alone procedure as the optimum recovery involves staying off the buttock to avoid pressure on the newly transplanted fat. Abdominoplasty recovery involves a significant amount of supine (on your back) recovery which is not ideal for success of fat transfer. However- with proper patient selection and technique, successful fat transfer can be performed. Patients have to be counseled that volume goals have to be tempered, and that shape has as much to do about where the fat is taken as where it is placed. This patient had a full abdominoplasty with diastasis repair. She had liposuction of the flanks and back - removing 900 cc of lipolysate . After filtering- 600cc of usable fat was transferred ( 300 cc to each buttock). Although this is a relatively small volume- nice improvements in shape were achieved.
