This 27-year-old woman lost 100 pounds through dietary measures and exercise going from 268 pounds down to 168 pounds. She had a lot of loose skin of her abdomen and thighs and sagging breasts. She did not want breast augmentation. She had a relatively small amount of breast tissue and was hopeful to reposition her own tissue without breast implants She underwent bilateral full mastopexy with mesh support as well as a full abdominoplasty and some upper thigh contouring during one procedure. The use of synthetic absorbable mesh has become more popular in mastopexy, breast reduction and even breast augmentation. The material utilized such as Galaflex and Durasorb is the same material that some suture material is made of and dissolves over time. By the time it disappears, the patient's own healing processes have helped to maintain the shape that was created during surgery having a more long-lasting result. Although it does not replace implants, it does provide for better shape during surgery. The material looks like a clear porch door screen and is wrapped around the reshaped lifted breast tissue and secured with dissolvable sutures. it helps to hold the reshape breast in place. It is rarely palpable and most patients do not notice it is there. It has proven to be very safe and is not like the meshes that you may hear about which have been are recalled for hernia repair etc. In this case. new technology helps improve the results of traditional surgery
