After Bariatric Body Contouring Before and After Photos
Post-Weight-Loss Surgery for Excess Skin Removal in Raleigh, North Carolina
About Weight Loss Medications and Body Contouring Surgery
Semaglutides, such as Mounjaro, Ozempic, and Wegovy, are used by some bariatric surgeons after weight loss surgery to help increase or maintain weight loss. These medications are prescribed for people with diabetes, which helps with blood sugar control and also weight loss, but their use has become more popular purely for weight loss.
Plastic surgeons frequently treat patients who are on these medications or have been on them. These medications must be discontinued prior to surgery as they have been associated with untoward issues during the induction of anesthesia, such as aspiration.
Concern
This 56-year-old woman has lost 115 pounds after a minimally invasive bariatric procedure and the regular use of a semaglutide, Mounjaro®, resulting in excess loose skin. As with most patients after massive weight loss, she has multiple areas of concern. Surgery will be staged.
Surgery
This patient underwent a circumferential abdominoplasty to deal with loose skin that went all around her waistline. She also had an extended mastopexy, which involves the removal of tissue, even going back towards the back or bra roll.
Results
After this major skin reduction surgery, improving body contour and skin tone, she now anticipates treating her excess arm skin and thighs with a brachioplasty and a vertical thigh lift in the near future.
Dr. Lyle offers Lower Body Lift surgery to remove excess skin and fat from the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs, enhancing overall body contours after weight loss. This procedure tightens and reshapes the lower body for a more defined look.
