Aveli ® Is a minimally invasive device that helps to treat dimpling of skin particularly in the buttock and thighs that is a part of cellulite Cellulite is caused by fibrous bands that develop between the skin and the underlying fascia- it is most common in women and the cause is believed to be the combination of genetic predisposition and hormones. There have been many treatments for this condition but none of them uniformly successful. The device is FDA cleared for treatment dimples and is a hand-held piece of equipment that is inserted through tiny incisions under local anesthesia. It uses a LED light to guide the subincision of the fibrous bands causing cellulite. This can be used as a stand-alone procedure and more recently has been incorporated during buttock surgery such as fat transfer ( BBL) Patients having Brazilian Butt Lift sometimes develop more noticeable dimples after the procedure. Fat transfer alone DOES not typically address dimples or divots. This 46-year-old woman underwent liposuction of the flanks and back and abdomen with fat transfer to the buttock. She is very happy with the improvements made but did have some dimpling that she had present before surgery that did not improve with the surgery. She underwent the Aveli procedure under local anesthesia in Dr. Lyle’s minor procedure room with nice improvement in the dimpled areas. Patients with noticeable dimples from cellulite can often have this procedure during liposuction or BBL..
