About Chemical Peels

Offering the best in chemical peel aesthetic treatments, Lyle Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Center provides patients with multiple options for a customized facial treatment with chemical solutions (such as glycolic, salicylic, lactic, and trichloroacetic acids) that give you healthier, more radiant skin on the face. At our Raleigh, NC office, plastic surgeon Dr. Glenn Lyle offers chemical peel treatments that help to resolve skin flaws including scars, wrinkles, fine lines, uneven patches, hyperpigmentation issues, and more. Chemical peels work by removing dead or damaged skin cells with the application of a customized solution on your skin, which causes the top layer to peel off. As your skin heals and begins to rejuvenate and repair itself, you should notice a clearer, smoother complexion. A chemical peel treatment is a noninvasive way to make your skin bright and is appropriate for the face, neck, and décollatage.

Variations of Chemical Peels

At our Raleigh, NC office, we provide chemical peels in different levels (light, medium, and deep) to fit our patients' skincare needs.

Light peels: You can have a light chemical peel on your lunch break and immediately get back to your day. This strength of peel will remove the top layer of skin (the epidermis), giving your complexion a brighter appearance and softer texture. We typically suggest that you get a light treatment around once a month for the best glowing results.

Medium-depth peels: This strength of chemical peel penetrates deeper into your skin, and you'll usually want to do this level of facial rejuvenation treatment over a long weekend. Prepare yourself for more discomfort during and around an hour after chemical peel. Medium-depth peels are best for patients who have significant damage to their skin such as deeper wrinkles and darker pigmentation issues.

Deep peels: The most advanced of the three types of chemical peels is the deep peel treatment, and it will require the most recovery time. This is an aggressive cosmetic treatment that could leave your face swollen, itchy, and peeling for several weeks. Patients who receive a deep peel usually have dark age spots, sun-damaged skin, significant acne scars, or deep-seated scars. As this strength of peel is typically uncomfortable for most patients, we will provide you with mild anesthesia prior to your procedure.

Ideal Candidates

Getting the opinion of an aesthetic professional is the first step in the journey to healthier skin. Dr. Lyle at Lyle Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Center can assess your skin in a consultation in our Raleigh, NC office before choosing a chemical peel treatment for ideal results. Chemical peel candidates of both genders typically have noticeable problems in their skin like acne scars, rough patches, flaky skin, discoloration, sun spots, fine lines, and much more. We will suggest multiple types of chemical peels to fit your needs.

Procedure Technique

During your procedure at Lyle Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Center, we will have you lying down in a relaxed position before administering your peel. We will make sure your skin is cleansed before applying the customized solution to your treatment areas. We will massage the solution onto your face and let it set for a specific amount of time, which will be discussed in your treatment planning session. Finally, we will wash the solution off your face and apply a neutralizing agent. You are encouraged to bring a light sunscreen or a hat to wear outside after the procedure to protect from environmental exposure.

What to Expect

Depending on the level of the peel you choose, you can expect the face to itch and peel from a few days to a couple weeks. Dr. Lyle or a member of our team will explain methods to care for your skin during your consultation. Please keep in mind that no matter how much your skin itches during post-treatment recovery, it is never helpful to pick the skin off. You could cause scarring to your delicate skin!

You know it’s going to be a good week when you start your Monday morning by receiving Botox injections from Stephanie!! She has been doing my Botox for almost 10 years now, and she continues to ‘wow me’ with her knowledge, skills and compassion. She listens and delivers exactly what you’re looking for! She also eases any nerves when it comes to getting injections. It was my first time at Lyle Plastics- everything was top notch. Gabby (front desk) was so welcoming, Haley PA was very informative and helped with explaining other treatments. I will be returning for other treatments. The office is beautiful and so classy!! Thank you all 💓

I had the such a fantastic BBL broad band laser, treatment with Mary Laura. Years of fun in the sun left me with memories…and brown spots, lots of them. My skin feels so soft, bright and my eyes feel open again, no one’s asking me “did you get enough sleep?” It’s incredible. I’ll be back, and I’m sending my friends!

I typically steer clear of reviews regarding medical professionals mainly because I like to keep my medical care private. However, I am making an exception for a surgeon that has provided me with consistent, quality care. Dr. Glenn Lyle deserves to be recognized for his surgical skills, the quality of his staff, and the amazing care he and his staff provide their patients. Let me begin this review by sharing that I got my initial recommendation for Dr. Lyle the old fashion way -- word-of-mouth! That is how good he is at his work and how much his patients like him. He was described to me by those that recommended him (yes, more than one) as a highly skilled surgeon that listens to his patients, addresses any questions and concerns in a truthful, forthright manner, and treats his patients with compassion. I have now been a patient of Dr. Lyle’s several times over the years, and I can say that I totally agree with that assessment. In addition to being a skilled surgeon, he is also a very compassionate person. Recently, I was attacked by a large dog while out of town/state. I was in the hospital for several days and had two surgeries, including a skin graft, on my arm. I was released from the hospital, received one follow-up visit with the trauma surgeon before being released to go back to Raleigh. To say the attack traumatized me immensely is an understatement. It only added to my anxiety not having a provider in Raleigh who could take over the continuing wound care for my arm and leg. Lost for direction, I booked a consult with Dr. Lyle, who I highly respect and trust, to see if he could recommend someone that could handle my wound care. Much to my surprise, Dr. Lyle offered to take on my care if I wanted him too. (Ends up, he had a lot of experience in burn and wound care from early in his career.) Words still cannot express the immense relief and gratitude I felt at Dr. Lyle’s unexpected offer! Dr. Lyle and his staff quite literally brought me back to life emotionally and physically because of their collective care. Specifically, Dr. Lyle and his P.A. Hayley provide me with fabulous wound care. In my time as a patient with Lyle Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Center, the entire staff from Pam (Office Manager) to Britney and Erin (excellent R.N.s) to Kathryn (get a facial from Kat - you will love it!) have consistently been positive interactions. Most important, the continuity of Dr. Lyle’s care throughout the years, regardless of the situation or procedure, remains as strong today as it was when I first became one of his many satisfied patients years ago! So, yes, I highly recommend you check out Lyle Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Center!

Dr. Lyle helped me immensely with my TMJ pain. So thankful that he introduced me to masseter botox - it’s changed my life! Also, Kat is a passionate and skilled esthetician. Her facials always leave my skin happy and glowing! They care about the patient, not just the bottom line. I genuinely trust the Lyle team and often recommend them to anyone interested in procedures or med spa treatments in the Raleigh/Durham area :)

About CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting is an innovative, fat diminishing treatment designed to sculpt and mold your body by freezing away tough fat cells without resorting to more invasive procedures. The technique includes the use of regulated cooling (cryolipolysis) to freeze fat cells so they can be naturally expelled from your body to reveal a slimmer physique. At Lyle Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Center in Raleigh, NC guided by plastic surgeon Dr. Glenn Lyle, we offer state-of-the-art CoolSculpting to help you meet your aesthetic goals. Schedule a consultation to learn more about cryolipolysis with CoolSculpting and decide if this treatment is right for you.

Ideal Candidates

Although this minimally invasive procedure has proven fruitful with both men and women of different ages, those who benefit the most from CoolSculpting:

Are within 30 pounds of their goal weight

Struggle with stubborn fat patches that do not respond to exercise and diet efforts

Live a healthy and active lifestyle

Do not desire or are not good candidates for more invasive procedures

Have realistic expectations for the outcome of their treatment

Procedure Technique

After your consultation with Dr. Lyle, he will plan and organize your CoolSculpting treatments. During your procedure, a gel pad and CoolSculpting applicator will be applied to the treatment area and the controlled cooling will start. The cooling, delivered by the applicator, will begin to attack and paralyze the fat cells. You will likely feel coolness at the time of your treatment, but this does not typically cause great discomfort. As the CoolSculpting applicator uses suction to pull the targeted fat into the predetermined treatment area, you may feel a small amount of tugging or pinching, but these are normal sensations.

What to Expect

Since CoolSculpting is noninvasive, you can expect to return to your daily activities following your treatment. In most cases, you can return to work or school immediately after. Side effects of the procedure usually include redness, swelling, bruising, stinging, and discomfort around the treated site. These side effects are temporary and usually subside in the days following your procedure. You should expect to notice changes in as little as three weeks, and you will see the most obvious and dramatic results 1 – 3 months after your CoolSculpting treatment.

A Slimmer Contour

No body is perfect and we all have things we wish to change, like stubborn areas of fat that will not respond to exercise and a healthy diet. Due to modern technology, you no longer have to choose between living with undesired fat or undergoing liposuction. Lyle Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Center is excited to offer Raleigh, NC residents CoolSculpting treatments to minimize areas of stubborn fat without invasive procedures for a smaller, tauter body contour. Schedule a CoolSculpting consultation with Dr. Glenn Lyle to find out if you are an ideal candidate for CoolScupting, or if another procedure would better help you meet your aesthetic goals.
