Matopexy and fat transfer after explantation in Raleigh, NC

Procedure Details

This 43 year old woman had submuscular saline implants placed in the past. She was never totally comfortable with them. After some weight gain and aging, she decided to remove them. She did not want replacement. She had done some research online and wondered if some health concerns were related to her implants but was not sure if this was occurring. At surgery, she was found to have intact saline breast implants which were filled to 425 cc. There was very little capsule thickening - they were almost transparent and no fluid around the implants and no abnormalities of the fluid in the implants. She had very little tissue left to make a new breast mound with mastopexy. Some fat grafting from her abdomen was done to augment her breasts but a conservative subcutaneous placement was done to avoid potential issues with interpretation of mammograms. She was very pleased with her new smaller breasts. Longstanding discomfort from her implants went away. Her health problems seemed to improve with dietary changes. She did express relief that her implants were not likely the source of her health problems although the extra weight of them- no longer being present felt much better to her.
