Deflated Appearing Breasts Improved with Breast Augmentation, Raleigh, NC

Procedure Details

This 34-year-old mother of 4 children noted progressive decline in her breast volume after each pregnancy. She describes her breasts as being deflated and noted to be sagging wrinkling with near complete loss of breast volume. She desired restoration of her original breast volume perhaps even somewhat larger since she has a ways been somewhat small breasted. She had several consultations with other plastic surgeons but ultimately chose breast augmentation with silicone gel breast implants with Dr. Lyle. The patient underwent bilateral submuscular placement of Allergan smooth walled full profile 365 cc gel prostheses. This size breast implant was necessary to completely fill out her lax skin envelope. She was very happy resulting C cup breasts and now felt normal in bathing suits and tight fitting clothing. Involutional hypoplasia is a condition that typically occurs with the postpartum breasts but can also occur after weight loss and hormonal changes. Severe loss of volume and laxity of the skin creates a deflated appearing breast. Frequently there is a wrinkling around the nipple areola and the breasts appear ptotic or sagging. This is a condition known as pseudoptosis however the nipple is actually still above the inframammary fold and breast lifting or mastopexy is not necessary. The sagging appearance can be improved with breast augmentation alone.
